The number of heat waves, their duration and intensity have increased since the 1970s, from an average of one heat wave per three years to one heat wave per year.

Each decade has two new summer days (Tmax ≥ 25 °C). And every two decades there is also an extra heat wave day (Tmax ≥ 30 °C).
